Technology of sulfur production without the use of a thermal stage

31EN
Process Description
Feedstock - acid gas containing hydrogen sulfide and air are supplied to the catalytic reactor 1 with an internal heat exchanger , cooled by a refrigerant. From the reactor 1 overhead, the reaction products are fed to scrubber 2, where they come into contact first with water suspension of sulfur , then with the circulating part of sulfur . From the scrubber 2 bottom, part of the sulfur is removed from the unit by pump 5, and the other part is sent back to scrubber 2. The desulfurized gas containing residual sulfur vapors is fed into mixer 3, where it comes into contact with the circulating part of the sulfur suspension supplied from separator 4. The resulting water-gas mixture is cooled in refrigerator 7 and separated in separator 4. Off-gas is discharged from the separator 4 overhead, it is sent to the atmosphere through the off-gas disposal unit 8, and a sulfur suspension in water is removed from the bottom using pump 6, the balance part of which is sent to scrubber 2, and the circulating part - to mixer 3.
